Who can apply

You don't need to be a student to apply for a casual AskOtago Student IT Representative position - it's preferable, but not essential. But you need to be familiar with the University student managed desktop and University provisioned software applications so that you can assist Otago students.

You don't need to be studying IT to apply, but an interest in IT would great. Full training is provided.

Even if you've only ever worked at a fast food restaurant, it is still worth applying. Customer service skills are valuable and we look for these in the applicants we hire.

AskOtago Student IT Services have a huge number of applicants each year for only a handful of positions, so if you've applied previously and didn't get selected last time, definitely try again.

Studying and working

You cannot study during your shifts. AskOtago Student IT Representatives are only rostered on for two hours at a time during the times you have advised that you are available but you are expected to work for the duration of your shift.

The really awesome thing about being a casual AskOtago Student IT Representative is that you can let us know when you are available each week. If you have exams or assignments coming up, all you need to do is request not to work that week, or on specific days.
