Removing a role-based mailbox from Outlook

Role-based accounts can be added to Outlook as a "delegate" account or as though it was a regular account (referred to as a "direct login").

The steps for removing the role-based accounts are different for each access method:

Removing a delegate account

  1. Click on File in the top left.
  2. Click Account settings, then select Account settings again from the newly-opened drop-down menu.
  3. In the Account Settings window, select your email account and click Change.
  4. In the Change Account windows, click on the More Settings button in the lower right.
  5. In the Microsoft Exchange window, click on the Advanced tab.
  6. Select the role-based email address and click on the Remove button.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Once back in the Change Account window, click Next.
  9. Click Finish.

Removing a direct login account

  1. Click on File in the top left.
  2. Click Account settings, then select Account settings again from the newly-opened drop-down menu.
  3. In the Account Settings window, select the role-based email you want to remove.
  4. Click the Remove button, then click Yes.

Removing a delegate account

  1. Click on Outlook in the menu bar, then select Preferences.
  2. Click Account in the Preferences menu.
  3. Click on your account on the left-hand side, then click the Advanced button in the lower-right corner.
  4. Select the role-based account in the Open these additional mailboxes section and click the minus button at the bottom of the section to remove the mailbox.
  5. Click OK to apply the changes.

Removing a direct login account

  1. Click on Outlook in the menu bar, then select Preferences.
  2. Click Account in the Preferences menu.
  3. Locate the role-based account on the left-hand side and click on it to select it.
  4. Click the minus button at the bottom of the list of accounts to remove the selected account from the list.
