You can export your web browser's bookmarks in order to move them over to another computer or import them into a new browser:
Chrome
Exporting
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click More
.
- Select Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager.
- At the top, click More
> Export Bookmarks.
Importing
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click More
.
- Select Bookmarks > Import Bookmarks and Settings.
- Select the program that contains the bookmarks you'd like to import.
- Click Import.
- Click Done.
Safari
Exporting
- With the Safari application open, click File in the menu bar.
- Select Export Bookmarks.
- Choose a location to save the file and click Save.
Importing
- With the Safari application open, click File in the menu bar.
- Select Import Bookmarks, or select Import From, then Bookmarks HTML File.
- Find the location of your bookmarks file, select it and click Import.
Firefox
Exporting
- Click the Library button
on your toolbar (if you don't see it there, click the menu button
then click Library.) Click Bookmarks and then click the Show All Bookmarks bar at the bottom (if this option isn't available, use the keyboard shortcut <ctrl><shift>b or in newer versions of Firefox <ctrl><shift>o).
- From the toolbar on the Library window, click the Import and Backup button
and choose Export Bookmarks to HTML… from the drop-down menu. - In the Export Bookmarks File window that opens, choose a location to save the file, which is named bookmarks.html by default. The desktop is usually a good spot, but any place that is easy to remember will work.
- Click the Save button. The Export Bookmarks File window will close.
- Close the Library window.
Importing
- Click the Library button
on your toolbar (if you don't see it there, click the menu button
then click Library.) Click Bookmarks and then click the Show All Bookmarks bar at the bottom.
- From the toolbar on the Library window, click
and choose Import Bookmarks from HTML….
- Within the Import Bookmarks File window that opens, navigate to the bookmarks HTML file you are importing and select the file.
- Click the Open button. The Import Bookmarks File window will close.
- Close the Library window.
The bookmarks in the selected HTML file will be added to your Firefox bookmarks within the Bookmarks Menu directory.
Microsoft Edge
Exporting
- Open the Favourites menu by clicking on the star with three horizontal lines or use the key combination Ctrl + Shift + O.
- Click on More options (the three horizontal dots):
- Go to Export favourites.
- Choose your preferred location and click Save.
Microsoft Edge will not allow you to export just one folder, you will need to export them all.
Importing
- Open the Favourites menu by clicking on the star with three horizontal lines or use the key combination Ctrl + Shift + O.
- Click on More options (the three horizontal dots).
- Go to Import favourites.
- Choose which browser you would like to import from, or Favourites or bookmarks HTML file if you wish to import from a file.
- Click Import or Choose file depending on your selection.
