You will use the Examplify application to sit your exam/s which you will need to download from the University of Otago’s ExamSoft portal. You should download the latest version of the application as soon as possible — there is no charge for this.
To prepare
- Make sure you are downloading the application to the laptop/desktop computer you will be using for your final exam/s.
- Check your laptop/desktop computer has all operating system updates applied.
Step-by-step guide to downloading the application
Open your browser—you will need to use either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox—and go to the ExamSoft portal to download the application: https://ui.examsoft.io/login?institutioncode=otago
The following login window should pop up:
Click on the green Login button, this will redirect you to a Microsoft sign in page:
Enter your University of Otago student email address and click Next:
This window will appear while it redirects you to the University of Otago’s sign-in page:
Once you get to the Microsoft 365 logon page, click on the circle beside Student Login (the circle will turn black), and enter your University of Otago email address and password:
Click on Sign in. You will get to the ExamSoft homepage:
- Go to the top right of your screen and Click on Download Examplify.
- Run the .exe file once downloaded. (if you can’t find the file, search for a file named
Examplify_2.3.12_win.exe
or similar—could be a different version number as Examplify updates regularly). - When the application is installed, you can launch it from your desktop or application tray.
Launch the Examplify application and select Add New Account.
When you are asked to input the Institution ID start typing Otago and the words University of Otago will appear. Then click the green Next box:
At this point the application should open your default browser and redirect you to a Microsoft sign in page:
Enter your University of Otago student email address and click Next:
This window will appear while it redirects you to the University of Otago’s sign-on page:
Once you get to the Microsoft 365 logon page, click on the circle beside Student Login (the circle will turn black), enter your University of Otago student email address and password:
Note: Once you have supplied your student username and password this time, Examplify will recognise you and never ask for them again.
Now you will be on the Examplify home page (which the application calls the dashboard).
On the top right of your screen, click Home Menu, click Preferences in the drop down:
Go to Upload Delay Time in the middle of the screen, click on the down arrow beside 10 seconds, in the drop-down click 30 seconds, then click the green box saying save preferences. This will help ensure uploading your exam/s goes smoothly by extending the delay:
Now you can do your first preparation exam. The Computer Compatibility Preparation Exam should be there now.
