University of Otago staff and students may be able to connect to eduroam while visiting another institution if the institution you are visiting is a participating member of eduroam.

You will be able to access eduroam by using your University of Otago username (in the format and password. For example: (staff) or (student/external).

If you are a staff member or student from the University of Otago visiting an eduroam-providing institution but the eduroam option does not appear in your wireless connections:

  • Check that there are other wireless networks available (there could be a local network problem or you may not be in range of the institution’s wireless network)
  • Contact the IT services at the institution you are visiting to make sure there are no local issues that might affect your eduroam connection

  • Android
  • Blackberry
  • iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch (iOS version two or later)
  • Some Nokia smartphones (N95, N97, N770, N800 and N810)
  • Windows Mobile

eduroam has "cross platform" access, which means that eduroam will work on the following computer operating systems:

  • macOS
  • Linux
  • Windows (including Windows CE)
