There are two parts to applying for PhD study:

  1. Finding a supervisor and a department
  2. Formal application for PhD study and scholarship funding

You should begin by approaching potential academic departments to see if they have the capacity and expertise to supervise you. We recommend an introductory email outlining your research interests along with your academic record and a short CV.

There are no deadlines for applying for PhD study at Otago. You can submit an application at any time throughout the year. If admitted, it is up to you and your primary supervisor to agree on a start date, which must be the first of a month.
