The Student Services Fee is a compulsory fee charged to help fund a range of support services available to all students, such as:

  • healthcare
  • gym and recreation activities
  • careers advice
  • internet access on campus for your personal use
  • campus events
  • financial advice
  • advocacy
  • pastoral care, etc.

Legislation requires that all money collected by the University of Otago from the Fee is spent on student services.

The University and OUSA want to work together with you to determine how to provide the right services to enhance your student experience. We seek and value your input to make the best decisions on how to spend the money collected from your Fee.

In 2018 the Student Services Fee for Dunedin on-campus students is $798.00 (GST inclusive).

For students whose course is delivered at the other University of Otago campuses the Student Services Fee is:

  • Wellington - $124.00
  • Christchurch - $153.00
  • Southland - $134.00

Postgraduate students at these campuses are charged a Student Services Fee of $40.83.

The Student Services Fee for Summer School is $123.17.

Students enrolled for courses taught entirely by distance learning are not charged the Student Services Fee.

If you are eligible for fees-free study at Otago in 2018, the Student Services Fee is included.
