If you have Fail listed as a result for a particular paper without an associated grade (e.g. Fail D or Fail E), it could be for a number of reasons.

  • An ungraded Fail result may be given if you have accumulated a high enough mark in your internal assessment to have passed, but you have failed a piece of compulsory assessment or the exam (some departments prefer to use the Fail Compulsory result for this)
  • Some papers operate on a Pass/Fail scheme where no grade is given along with the result.

Contact your department to have this result clarified.
