The University of Otago has been approved by the U.S. Department of Education to participate in the Federal Student Aid programme (also known as Direct Loans, Stafford Loans or U.S Financial Aid).

This allows U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens to access the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loans (Direct Loan) Program. Under this program, the U.S. Department of Education is your lender. You will not be able to obtain a Pell Grant at the University of Otago.

To be eligible for Direct Loans, students must be either studying Bachelor (except Medicine), Master's or Doctoral degrees on campus at the University of Otago in Dunedin.

The administrator is located at the International Office in the Clocktower and is available between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, or email
