The University recognises that there are many reasons you may not be able to sit your digital exam at home and is making a number of study spaces available for students to sit digital exams on campus. These will be provided across all five of our campus locations across New Zealand.

Spaces are limited so advance booking is required. You can request a space here:

On Campus Exam Space Application

These spaces are for those sitting timetabled final exams only, rather than tests. If you’re unsure if your exam qualifies, please check the exam timetable

If an examination space on campus can be provided for you, you will receive confirmation at least 24 hours before your exam. It is a good idea to have a back-up option in case a space on campus is not available due to demand.

Further information is available on the student section of our COVID-19 website:

Type of exam spaces

Due to the demand on spaces and the tight timeframes to undertake space allocation, it will not be possible for you to select a particular space to sit your exam. The University will allocate your space to you. There is no specific type of room in which an exam space may be located and a variety of spaces are being used. The email confirming a space is being allocated to you will let you know where you will be located.

Guidelines for using exam spaces

You will be able to access the exam space 30 minutes before the start of your exam. Seating will be designated. You will be provided with a desk number in your confirmation email, and this will correspond with a number displayed on the desk that has been made available to you.

Each room will have a mix of exams taking place in them, and some exams may finish at different times, so it is important to respect the needs of all the users in the room if your exam finishes earlier.

Using the exam spaces

You will have access to the University Wi-Fi, a desk and a socket to plug your laptop into. There will be no IT assistance on-site, so it is a good idea to undertake the recommended IT checks before sitting your exam, and come to your study space early to test your equipment and check everything is working. You can access your exam space up to 30 minutes before the start of your exam.

Eating and drinking is not permitted in the exam spaces.

Supervision of exam spaces

The rooms will be supervised to ensure you are able to undertake your exam without being disturbed. To ensure fairness, examinations taken on campus will be set up identically to those being taken by students in their homes or residential colleges. While the room will be supervised, there will be no exam invigilator onsite. The supervisor is only there to oversee the use of the room, and won’t be able to answer any exam-related questions.

If you have concerns about any of the questions in your exam, you should submit them via the Online Examinations Incident Report form

Invigilation for those students taking exams through the ExamSoft/Examplify software is built into the exam.

All students are required to abide by the Academic Integrity Policy when sitting their exams online:
