You should download the latest version of the app Examplify as soon as possible — there is no charge for downloading the app.

To prepare

  1. Make sure you are downloading the app to the laptop/desktop computer you will be using for your final exam/s.
  2. Check your laptop/desktop computer has all operating system updates applied.

Step-by-step guide to downloading the app

  1. You will have received an email to your University student email address from ExamSoft (from noreply@examsoft.com) inviting you to visit the University of Otago’s ExamSoft portal, where you will download the app Examplify, which you will be sitting your exam/s on — you will need to use either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to access the portal.
  2. Follow the instructions in the email received and click on the link.
  3. Clicking on the link will open your default browser and take you to the University of Otago’s ExamSoft Portal:

The following login window should pop up:

  2. Run the .exe file once downloaded. (if you can’t find the file, search for a file named Examplify_2.3.12_win.exe or similar — could be a different version number as Examplify updates regularly).
  3. When the app is installed, you can launch it from your desktop or app tray.

Examplify tick

Launch the Examplify app and select Add New Account.

When you are asked to input the Institution ID start typing Otago and the words University of Otago will appear. Then click the green Next box:

Note: Once you have supplied your student username and password this time, Examplify will recognise you and never ask for them again.

Now you will be on the Examplify home page (which the app often calls the dashboard).
On the top right of your screen, click Home Menu, click Preferences in the drop down:

Go to Upload Delay Time in the middle of the screen, click on the down arrow beside 10 seconds, in the drop down click 30 seconds, then click the green box saying save preferences. This will help ensure uploading your exam/s goes smoothly by extending the delay:
