When you change your password, it changes for all applications and systems with that particular University username and password combination.

These include:

  • Logging into your staff computer or student desktop
  • eVision
  • StudentMail and Staff WebMail
  • Staff Web Kiosk
  • Accessing your emails via Outlook or a device
  • WIFI access

When you change your password, your devices will still try to use the old one to authenticate to the server, so if you don’t log off and back on again with the new password, your account will eventually lock, removing your access for 30 minutes. If you have received an initial password (issued with your username), or have received a temporary password when your password details have been reset, please note that:

  • This will expire after seven days if it isn’t changed and;
  • It must be changed before you can log in to any University application

You can change your password through the Self-Service Password Management system [opens in a new window].

For the same reason above, any mobile devices (such as laptops, smartphones, or tablets) that you log in to will also continue to use the incorrect password when trying to authenticate your access, unless you change them too (or turn them off).

Changing your iOS device wifi password

You will need to forget and then reconnect to the network.

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap on the name of the network or the arrow beside it.
  3. Tap on Forget this network, then click Forget in the pop-up prompt (5).
  4. Return to your Wi-Fi networks list, choose the wireless network again, enter your username and new password and click Join.
  5. Accept the security certificate if you are prompted.

Changing settings for email access on your iOS device

First, you need to have wireless or mobile data network access.

  1. Go to Settings and select Accounts & Passwords. If your mobile device uses iOS 10 or earlier, you will find the Accounts section under Mail, Contacts, Calendars instead.
  2. Tap on your staff email account, change your password, and then click Done.

Changing your Android device wireless password

If the network is currently available for you to connect to, follow the instructions below. If it is not (i.e., you are off campus), simply update the network once you are back on campus. 

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
  2. Open the network settings.
    • If you are showing as connected to the network, tap on the pencil icon in the top right corner. 
    • If you are not currently connected to the network, long press (tap and hold) on the network in question, then tap Modify network
  3. Once you have opened the network settings, you can change your password by tapping in the Password field (you may need to scroll down) and entering a new password, then tapping Save.

Changing settings for email access on your Android device

First, you need to have wireless or mobile data network access.

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts.
  2. Tap on your staff exchange email to access your email account settings.
  3. Select Account settings
  4. Tap on your staff email again.
  5. Scroll down until you find Incoming settings under Server settings.
  6. Update your password in the password field
  7. Tap Next.

Your password has now been updated.
