If you are already using AnyConnect to connect to another VPN with your computer or device, you can also use it to access the UO-VPN service at the University of Otago:

Windows/Mac

  1. In AnyConnect, enter the URL of the UO-VPN service into the space next to the Connect button: vpn.otago.ac.nz/ssl
You will be prompted to enter your University staff username and password to connect
  2. Once you are showing as connected to UO-VPN, disconnect using the Connect button, then reconnect using the UO-VPN-SSL option instead (you can find this in the drop-down menu in the connection window)

iOS

  1. First you will need to create a new VPN connection in AnyConnect. Click the Add VPN Connection… setting and enter the URL of the UO-VPN service for the new connection:  vpn.otago.ac.nz/ssl
  2. You will be prompted to enter your University username and password. Once you are connected, the VPN service will load a new VPN connection, UO-VPN-SSL, into AnyConnect
  3. Next you need to disconnect from the initial VPN connection and reconnect using the UO-VPN-SSL profile by tapping on the UO-VPN-SSL entry in AnyConnect. This option will give you the best connection to the VPN service
  4. Keep the initial vpn.otago.ac.nz/ssl entry as a backup
