These are the email messages you will receive to advise you that access to your Studentmail and Office 365 is going to be disabled soon:

(DDn = Disable date, format example: Monday, 12 June 2017)

First specific email - 21 days prior to DDn

Subject: Your access to student email and Office 365 will be removed on <DDn>

Dear <student's known name>

This email is to let you know that, as you are no longer enrolled for study at the University of Otago, your access to student email and Office 365 will be disabled on <DDn>.

From that date, you will no longer be able to access your student email account and your files stored in OneDrive, or have access to a free Office 365 licence for your personal computer(s). Any email forwarding you have set up to another email address will also be deleted.

Your University username will not be disabled and you will be able to log in to eVision. If you apply for a new programme or re-enrol for an existing programme, your student email and Office 365 accounts will be re-enabled.

What you need to do:

  1. Set up an automatic reply (Out of Office) message on your student email account to advise senders of email to that address which email address they should now use.
  2. Export or forward any email you want to keep to your personal email address.
  3. Download any files from your OneDrive that you want to keep.
  4. Create a new local account and copy your profile over to that if you log in to your Windows computer using your student email address.

To continue to use Office 365 on your personal device(s) you can sign-up with Microsoft for a personal/home Office 365 account with its own OneDrive storage.
