A generic (role-based) username and related email account is used for a function or role, rather than for an individual, within the University of Otago.

A generic email address and username can be used for a:

  • section/group
  • departmental address
  • function within a department (head of department, reception, etc.)
  • conference organiser
  • study/research/survey contact address

Your generic or role-based University username expires five years from the date it was first created. The expiry date can be extended if it is still in use.

If your username is no longer required, contact AskOtago so that it can be disabled. It can be reactivated again at a later date if required:
