If you're a University of Otago staff member or student you already have access to University network services using your University username and password, so there is no need for you to register for a UO_Guest account.

Travelling to other campuses

Otago staff travelling from Dunedin to the University's Wellington, Christchurch or Invercargill campuses used to use the old UO-GUEST wireless service for internet access. This is no longer possible because any devices that have been previously connected to the old networks cannot connect to the new UO_Guest wireless service.

If you or your staff are travelling to other University of Otago campuses, please ensure that any devices are registered for the appropriate network no later than the day before your travel.

If you register devices for UO-STAFF, this needs to be a per-campus registration. UO-EXTERNAL covers all campuses, but some services and drives will require either UO-STAFF or VPN access.

The new University of Otago network (or Future Network/FSN) is now available in:

  • many locations on the Dunedin campus
  • the main building of University of Otago, Christchurch
  • most Wellington campus locations
  • the Auckland Centre

Once the new network is available on all campus locations, staff and students will be able to connect to UO_WIFI without registering their devices.
