Your staff username is printed on the front of your University of Otago staff ID card. If you don't have an ID card you can contact AskOtago for assistance.

If you know your staff username and have forgotten your password, you can reset your password via the Identity Self Service console. 

When you change your password, it changes for all applications and systems with that username and password combination. These include:

  • Logging into your staff computer or Virtual Staff Desktop
  • eVision
  • Staff WebMail
  • Staff Web Kiosk
  • Accessing your emails via Outlook or on your device
  • wireless access

When you change your University password, any device or application that stores your password (such as desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, or password managers, either within your browser or a separate app) will still try to use the old password to authenticate.

Usually you will be prompted for a new password to be entered, but sometimes your account may lock if they aren’t updated in a timely manner. So, make sure to log off and log back on your desktop computer and email, and manually change the password on your mobile devices and password managers straight away. As long as your computer or device continues to use your old password, your account will stay locked.
