As a student you can get wired (Ethernet) internet access by plugging your laptop in to a network outlet set up for the University wired network.
To connect to a wired connection at the University you need to use the student "proxy". However, you do not want to use the student proxy when using the wireless network, or if you are outside the University campus.

Windows instructions
This handout shows you how to set up the Firefox web browser for use with the student proxy. You will need to use Firefox if you want to access the University's wired student network. Please contact Student IT for help to set up apps like Skype or Spotify to work with the proxy.
