You don't need an iPod to listen to a podcast. Podcasts can be accessed using a web browser with built-in RSS-reading capabilities, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari. The term 'podcast' refers to the type of file distribution based on subscription, more formally known as RSS (real simple syndication). An Otago Podcasts site is an ordinary webpage which is also able to check for updates and download files.

The audio and video material on Otago Podcasts can be listened to or watched on a wide range of devices depending on the file format that has been used to create the podcast:

  • iPods or other digital music players
  • personal computers with speakers or headphones
  • mobile devices and smartphones
  • portable gaming devices.
