English is the usual language for teaching, examination, and administration at the University of Otago. However certain papers in Māori and foreign languages may be taught in those languages.

You must be competent in your use and understanding of written and spoken English to study at Otago, and may be required to provide evidence of your English language proficiency before you can be admitted.
