Joining KiwiSaver is voluntary. The University is an exempt employer which means it is not required to automatically enrol its staff members in the scheme.
At your request, the University can provide a KiwiSaver Employee pack, and make KiwiSaver deductions from your salary and forward them to the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). Other options include joining the UniSaver New Zealand Superannuation Scheme or a joint UniSaver/KiwiSaver compliant scheme.
The University is not allowed to give financial advice on which superannuation option is best for you. We encourage you to seek independent financial advice before making a decision.
