Please see the website for current details of admission from NCEA level 3:

Changes to the University Entrance requirement for 2021 (for 2020 school-leaver cohort only)

To gain University of Otago admission, you must meet the entry requirements to study at a New Zealand university. To be offered a place at Otago you must also meet entry requirements for your chosen programme. More information regarding Entry Pathways for students applying for general bachelors' degrees and other undergraduate courses is available on the website.

Other undergraduate courses subject to the Entry Pathways system include:

  • Health Sciences First Year
  • Surveying First Year
  • Bachelor of Laws (first year only)
  • Certificate of Proficiency (for undergraduate papers) and other intermediate courses
  • Social Work Pre-professional
  • Diploma in Language
  • Diploma in Global Cultures
  • other intermediate courses

As long as you've authorised NZQA to release your results to tertiary institutions, they will provide the University of Otago with your NCEA Level 3 results.

The NZQA Student Exam Hub website has information about exam results availability:

You may achieve University Entrance but not yet received an offer to the programme you've applied for at Otago. This is because University admission and programme admission are updated separately. You should receive further updates about your programme application, so please monitor your eVision alerts:
