The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 requires a person to eliminate risks to health and safety, so far as is reasonably practicable, and if it is not reasonably practicable to eliminate risks, to minimise those risks so far as is reasonably practicable.

This requires the following process to be followed:

  1. IDENTIFY likely workplace hazards/risks.
  2. CONTROL the hazard/risk through the required hierarchy (elimination of the hazard/risk, minimisation of the hazard/risk).
  3. MONITOR any exposure to a hazard that has been minimised.
